SnowboardersSnowboarding is a fun sport that takes a lot of skill to master. Snowboarding when you’re on holiday is unlikely to have an influence on your life insurance application.

There are some things though that will stand out to an insurer as a bit more risky, so it’s always worth double checking how an insurer will feel about your snowboarding before you apply.

When you speak to our advisers we will ask you:

  • How often are you snowboarding?
  • Where are you snowboarding?
  • Are you snowboarding solo or as part of a group?
  • Are you taking part in any competitions?

Life insurance for snowboarders can potentially be available at standard rates if you are doing this purely as a holiday sport. The amount of times that you are outside of the UK each year can mean that you need to be careful about which insurer you pick, to try and avoid any increases to the life insurance premiums.

Where there is a competitive aspect to the snowboarding the life insurance application may need to be placed with a specialist provider who can consider cover for you. This doesn’t necessarily mean that there’s going to be silly premiums or complex wording to the cover, it just means that choosing the right insurer for you is really important.

Our award winning advisers are here to find the best life insurance policy for you.

Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.

Snowboarders critical illness insurance will again generally be available at normal terms, if the snowboarding is just a holiday sport.

If you take part in competitive snowboarding it is likely that you will need to place your insurance application with specific insurers. There can be certain aspects of critical illness policies that can see exclusions relating to sports or premiums can jump up quite high depending upon the insurer’s rules.

Our expert advisers are here to specifically look out for these things and find you the most competitive critical illness cover that you can have.

Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.

Income protection for snowboarders may be available at normal terms with some insurers. This means no premium increases of exclusions relating to the snowboarding.

That being said income protection is a policy type that can quickly see exclusions added to it for previous health conditions. If you’ve recently had anything like a broken ankle, back pain or a torn ligament, these can lead to an exclusion being placed on the income protection for claims relating to those areas. An exclusion doesn’t ever sound great, but these can sometimes be reviewable and you are still going to insured for many other situations.

Our advisers will find the right income protection policy to give you peace of mind for your future finances.

Common Questions

Hi, for things like life insurance, critical illness cover and income protection, a broken ankle is very unlikely to increase your policy premiums. You might find that the insurer excludes claims relating to your ankle, if you take out income protection cover.
