Life Insurance for police officers is available at normal terms with most insurance providers. Police officers life insurance applications should be rather simple to place, however if you are due to go abroad for work purposes in the near future this should be detailed to the insurer.
When you apply for Critical Illness Cover, police officers will generally find that their applications are accepted at standard rates with many insurers. As with Life Insurance if you are due to go abroad for work purposes in the near future this should be detailed to the insurer.
Long Term Income Protection for police officers, special constables and policy community support officers is currently unavailable.
There are some insurers who will consider offering you short-term Income Protection (Accident, Sickness and Unemployment cover). This policy provides short-term income protection for between 12 and 24 months should you be unable to work due to injury, illness or involuntary redundancy. This is a popular option but you need to make sure that your deferment period starts after your sick pay ceases (or pick a plan that pays in addition to sick pay).
