When you arrange life insurance, critical illness cover, income protection or private medical insurance you will often need to tell the insurer of any heart condition(s) that you have.
Some common questions that you could be asked by the insurer:
- What is the name of the condition?
- When were you diagnosed?
- What medications, treatments or surgery have taken place?
- Are you a smoker?
If you are a smoker it is worth bearing in mind that you may need to look at specific insurers that are able to consider you application.
When you have a heart condition, it is likely that the insurer that you place your application with, will want to see a report from your GP to confirm the details of your health. This is quite a standard process and should not cause you any concern. It can also be of benefit to have the medical reports to support your application, as you can then be sure that the insurer has an official account of your recent medial history, when assessing your application.
Life Insurance – widely available, depending upon the time since diagnosis of your condition and the severity of your symptoms, you may need to look at a specialist insurance provider.
