When travelling and working in Syria, Life Insurance applications for military personnel will generally see policy premiums increased to offset the perceived added risk of active deployment and occupational hazards. Armed Forces personnel applying for Critical Illness Cover will need to detail any intended deployment to Syria within the near future. It is likely that the policy will be accepted with either a critical illness exclusion or occupational exclusion. A critical illness exclusion will probably include the removal of the conditions loss of limbs, coma and traumatic head injury from the claimable illnesses set. Alternatively an occupational exclusion will be enacted, meaning that any claim made on the policy that is a direct result of your occupation will not be approved.
Critical Illness Insurance for civilians travelling to Syria has been available in the past however this is no longer available. Insurance providers are regularly changing their stances on underwriting guidelines for foreign travel and it is well worth giving us a call to find out the latest terms available on the market.
Income Protection Insurance for anyone travelling to Syria will need to be placed with a specialist provider, who may or may not consider cover. You will need to detail the amount of time you intend to stay in Syria, where you will be staying (general public, army base) and your working routines whilst there.
