If you travel to Dubai, Life Insurance applications should be accepted at normal rates. This is because insurance companies presently view the country as being of low risk to your personal well being. For those who spend a great deal of time in the country, six consecutive months or more, it is possible that you will need to be selective as to the insurer that you approach as soon may impose non-standard terms on the policy (premium increase).
When you are visiting Dubai for a short period of time such as for a holiday or to visit family your application should be accepted at standard rates.
When you travel to Dubai, Critical Illness Cover applications may need to detail how long you have spent in the country in the last five years and any trips you intend to take in the next two years. Travel to Dubai should not present any concern with your Critical Illness policy and you will typically find that this cover is available at normal terms.
If you travel to Dubai regularly for work related purposes, it is possible that the insurer may ask specific details about the industry that you work in and your specific working tasks whilst there. Again, it is likely that you will be offered Critical Illness Cover at standard terms, but if your work is of a particularly hazard nature it is possible that the policy may be offered at special terms.
Income Protection cover for people travelling to Dubai should be available at normal terms with most insurance providers. Extensive travel of more than six months may result in you needing to be selective as to which insurer that you approach for Income Protection, to remain eligible for standard terms of cover.
When you apply for Income Protection your policy will be set up on a definition of own occupation, suited occupation or any occupation. You ideally want to arrange a policy on an own occupation basis as this will give you the strongest claims definition for Income Protection.
