Life Insurance for people who have fully recovered from hepatitis C with no lasting complications to the liver, should be available at normal terms with most insurers. The insurer may be interested in whether or not the condition was contracted due to drug use. Where drug use has been the cause of the hepatitis the insurer may choose to offer cover at non-standard terms or decline the application.
For those who still have hepatitis C or chronic hepatitis the insurer may be able to offer Life Insurance if the condition is well treated and controlled. Any offer of Life Insurance will be at special terms (a premium increase).
Critical Illness Cover for those who have had hepatitis C may be available at normal terms if the condition is fully recovered from with no lasting impacts to your liver. As above, the insurer may ask whether or not the condition was contracted through drug use which may result in special terms being offered or the application declined.
For those who still have hepatitis C or chronic hepatitis, Critical Illness Cover will need to be arranged with a specialist insurer.
Income Protection for people who have had hepatitis C may be available at standard terms if you approach an insurer that looks upon your medical history favourably. The insurer will ask if you have had any significant periods of time off work due to your health.
If you still have hepatitis C you may be able to access some short-term income protection policies. You must be fully aware that the policy will come with an exclusion to any claim that is related to the hepatitis.
Some potential problems experienced by individuals who have hepatitis C include:
Short term memory difficulties, brain fog

Hepatitis C is a virus that affects the ability of the liver to function correctly, causing liver inflammation and fibrosis. Whilst the condition generally affects the liver it can also cause problems to the brain, immune, digestive and lymphatic systems. Hepatitis C is transmitted by infected blood or bodily fluids entering the body. There are six different genotypes of hepatitis C with each being more prevalent in different geographical locations.
