Life Insurance for people with Crohn's disease can be secured anywhere from standard terms through to heavy premium loadings. If you have had no recent flare ups and are on mild medication you may be able find a Life Insurance policy with Crohn's disease at normal premium rates. If you have had recent symptoms and take strong medications for the condition then you may see your policy premiums increase slightly.
If you are pending surgery for Crohn's disease then it is probable that your application for Life Insurance will be postponed, until a time that it can be determined the success of the surgery on your symptoms.
Critical Illness Cover for people with Crohn's disease is available and can be sourced at standard terms, where the condition has been dormant for some time and light medication is in use. Where stronger medications are in use and the condition is more active you may find that your policy premiums are increased. Some insurers may offer an exclusion to Crohn's if they have it as a claimable critical illness.
Income Protection for people with Crohn's disease is likely to attract a small premium increase if you would like your condition to be covered.
If you would rather not pay a higher price then you may prefer to choose a provider who will exclude the condition instead. If you take strong medication or have frequent symptoms the full income protection may not be available and you might be better considering short term accident/sickness cover.

Crohn's disease is a condition that is often misunderstood as someone simply having a bad case of diarrhoea with stomach pain. This is not the case. Crohn's disease is a debilitating condition that can affect the sufferer for weeks or months at a time and can affect any part of the digestive system from the mouth through to the bowel. The condition causes an inflammation of the lining of the digestive system and can be triggered by any combination of a genetic predisposition, immune system deficiency, previous infections or environmental factors.
