Life Insurance for people with Behcet's disease can be available with a number of insurers. If your symptoms are mild and the condition is well controlled with little or no medication you may be able to access Life Insurance with a small premium increase. For those whose symptoms are more severe and/or involve neurological diagnoses, it is likely that the policy terms for Life Insurance will come with a high premium loading. If you are declined Life Insurance on the standard market it may be necessary to apply for Life Insurance with a specialist insurer who can consider the cover.
Critical Illness Cover for people who have Behcet's syndrome may be available with some insurers depending upon the severity of the condition. For those with mild symptoms that are well controlled with little or no medication, Critical Illness Cover may be available with at non-standard terms (an increase to the policy premium). If your symptoms are more severe it is possible that you will need to place your application for Critical Illness Cover with a specialist insurer.
Income Protection for people with Behcet's disease can be difficult to source as the condition often involves tiredness and joint pain. There are a couple of insurers who can consider your application for Income Protection if your symptoms are very mild and you are largely asymptomatic.
If you find that you are not eligible for Income Protection it is worthwhile considering an Accident, Sickness and Unemployment policy. An Accident, Sickness and Unemployment policy will provide short-term income replacement for 12-24 months if you are unable to work due to long-term injury, disability and involuntary redundancy. These policies are not medically underwritten and you will be able to arrange one of these policies at a standard premium. It is important to note that any claim that you place on the policy will exclude any inability to work due to the Behcet's syndrome.
