Legal & General have introduced 'Second Medical Opinion' service to a number of their insurance policies. This new dynamic to their existing product base is going to greatly improve the ongoing services that they provide to their existing clients.
The new Second Medical Opinion service will apply to the following insurance plans:
Provided by Healix Health Services Ltd, who are independent of Legal & General, individuals who own these insurance plans will now have access to a range of consultant specialists within the UK if they make a claim on the policy. The consultation is completely confidential and no information is passed from Healix Health Services Ltd to Legal & General.
This Second Medical Opinion service can provide a face-to-face consultation with a specialist to further assess the medical diagnosis you have been given and review the treatment that has been recommended. This is an added aftercare service provided when a claim is placed on your policy so that you can speak with a specialist from the field of your medical diagnosis. Legal & General will pay up to £300 towards the cost of the consultation.
Should you place a claim on the policy and choose to use the Second Medical Opinion service you and your GP will be provided with a report from the consultant that you see. This can include additional details regarding your specific diagnosis and any alternative treatments that may be available to you.
The Second Medical Opinion service operates independently of any claim that you place.
This service is only available to Legal & General clients once a claim has been placed on the policy, it would be nice to see it extended like Best Doctors (provided by AIG and Friends Life) where the service is available at any time for any condition.
